The Karot Hydropower Project, a vital component of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is poised to revolutionize Pakistan's energy landscape. According to Qin Guobin, Vice General Manager of China Three Gorges International Limited (CTGI) and Chairman of CSAIL, this project is projected to yield remarkable environmental benefits.

With a substantial 720 MW installed capacity and an annual output of 3.2 billion kWh, the Karot Hydropower Project is set to provide electricity to a staggering 5 million people in Pakistan, significantly alleviating the nation's power deficit. Moreover, this endeavor is expected to save 1.4 million tons of standard coal annually, reducing carbon emissions by a whopping 3.5 million tons. This aligns perfectly with global carbon neutrality aspirations.

Qin Guobin made these revelations during an illuminating "Public Open Day" event held at the Karot Hydropower Project site by China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Ltd (CSAIL). The event was graced by Pakistani government officials, local community members, and enthusiastic students from neighboring schools.

This event, themed "Clean Energy, Karot Hydropower Project around me," allowed visitors to explore the project's facilities, including the spillway, dam, and power plant, through engaging videos and on-site tours. They also had the opportunity to interact with project experts, gaining insight into the project's multifaceted benefits in terms of clean energy provision, ecological preservation, community integration, and social responsibility fulfillment.

As part of their commitment to the community, CSAIL recognized and employed local talent, fostering a sense of ownership and pride. They initiated a "China Three Gorges in My Eyes" vlogging campaign among new employees, all recipients of the "China Three Gorges Corporation Scholarship." Additionally, they extended a helping hand to local primary school students by donating school bags and stationery, encouraging them to express their admiration for the Karot Project through artwork on a graffiti wall.

Throughout the construction phase, China Three Gorges Corporation demonstrated its unwavering commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, undertaking over 20 charitable initiatives for local communities, including school and hospital construction, and road development. The project has also contributed significantly to biodiversity conservation and has created more than 4,500 jobs each year for the local population. Furthermore, they sponsored 33 students, enabling them to complete their undergraduate studies in Chinese and Pakistani universities under their scholarship program.

The "Public Open Day" at Karot embodies openness, inclusivity, and the deep-rooted friendship between China and Pakistan. Qin Guobin affirmed China Three Gorges Corporation's continued dedication to the goals of CPEC energy cooperation, ensuring the provision of green energy to fuel Pakistan's socio-economic progress and improve the lives of its people. Their commitment extends to the broader vision of fostering a shared future for all of humanity.
