Suki Kinari Hydropower Project Triumphs in Reliability Test
The Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) has announced that the 884MW Suki Kinari Hydropower Project, a key initiative under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has successfully completed its Reliability Run Test (RRT). This $1.7 billion project represents a significant advancement in Pakistan's renewable energy sector.
The PPIB Managing Director congratulated Energy China and all involved stakeholders for their role in this achievement. The project is expected to generate around 3 billion units of renewable energy annually, underscoring Pakistan's commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
Despite the successful RRT, the project's inauguration, initially planned for September 12, 2024, will be postponed until the Commercial Operation Date (COD) is confirmed. This delay follows a temporary halt during the initial RRT phase. The project will now await full operational status to ensure a successful launch.
