Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Premier Li Qiang inaugurated the New Gwadar International Airport via a virtual ceremony. During the event, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hailed the airport as a transformative gift from China, symbolizing their unwavering support for Pakistan’s economic growth and the upliftment of underdeveloped regions.
Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence that this airport will not only boost Gwadar’s economy but also contribute to the nation's broader economic progress. He extended his gratitude to the Chinese leadership and the engineers and workers from both nations who played a pivotal role in the airport's construction.
The inauguration also saw the signing and exchange of several MOUs between Pakistan and China in sectors such as industry, agriculture, and commerce. These agreements, along with numerous joint projects such as animal meat export and the Smart Classroom Project, highlight the growing cooperation between the two countries.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized that the New Gwadar International Airport is a key step in developing Gwadar as a regional connectivity hub. The project was completed in five years, showcasing the strength of Pakistan-China collaboration. The airport is expected to significantly enhance connectivity in the region, further solidifying the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
