A high-level delegation from Ningbo University, headed by Academician Zhao Yufen, a prominent member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the Institute of Discovery Technology (IDDT), visited Pakistan to foster scientific and technological collaboration between universities and institutions in both countries.
The visit coincided with the annual meeting of the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence (CCoE) in Islamabad on January 22. During the event, Academician Zhao shared insights into traditional medicine, aiming to promote global competitiveness in science, technology, health, and higher education through cross-institutional cooperation.
The delegation also engaged with officials from leading Pakistani institutions, including Hamdard University, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), and the University of Lahore, focusing on expanding cooperation, particularly on a project involving seven traditional medicinal plants such as Withania somnifera, Tribulus terrestris, and Moringa oleifera. These plants had been sent to China's space station as part of innovative research efforts.
The visit is a significant milestone in Ningbo University's international scientific cooperation strategy, reflecting its ongoing advancements in traditional medicine, particularly in the realm of space-based research. The university has successfully conducted numerous influential space-based experiments in both domestic and international settings, solidifying its role as a leader in this cutting-edge field.
