Pakistan and China have further solidified their strategic partnership by signing 13 accords on Monday, aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors. These agreements span key areas such as security, education, agriculture, human resource development, and science and technology. The documents were signed following delegation-level talks between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Premier Li Qiang, where both leaders discussed the full spectrum of Pakistan-China relations, particularly economic and trade ties, as well as collaboration under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Upon Premier Li’s arrival at the PM House, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended a warm welcome during a formal ceremony, including a guard of honor. Both prime ministers, accompanied by their respective delegations, witnessed the signing of the agreements. Among the key pacts was the Handing over certificate of the Smart Classrooms Project, signed by Pakistan’s Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema and China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao.
The two nations also formalized the minutes of the 13th CPEC Joint Coordination Committee meeting and the 7th Joint Working Group on Gwadar. Additionally, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Lou Zhaohui, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, signed an MoU on Promoting Cooperation for the CPEC Livelihood Working Group. Other notable agreements included a currency swap arrangement, the export of donkey meat to China, and an MoU on co-producing TV programs, signed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Both sides reiterated their commitment to fostering deeper collaboration in fields like Information and Communication, flood control, and human resource development under the Global Development Initiative (GDI).
