China is set to deepen its space collaboration with Pakistan, marking a historic milestone in their scientific partnership. According to the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian announced that a Pakistani astronaut will soon join China's Tiangong Space Station, reinforcing bilateral cooperation in space exploration.
Last week, SUPARCO signed a cooperation agreement with China, paving the way for Pakistan’s first astronaut mission aboard the space station. The astronaut will be trained as a scientific payload specialist, conducting cutting-edge research in microgravity, space radiation, medical sciences, and astronomy.
Highlighting China’s commitment to peaceful space exploration, Lin Jian emphasized that Beijing is open to expanding cooperation with Pakistan and other nations, fostering mutual growth in space technology. Pakistan and China have strengthened their space ties over the years, including joint satellite programs and a planned lunar rover mission as part of China’s Chang’e 8 mission in 2028.
As both nations continue to push the boundaries of scientific research and innovation, this partnership is set to propel Pakistan’s space ambitions to new heights while reinforcing China’s vision of international collaboration in space exploration.
