Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Nong Rong, met with Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, on Monday. Their discussions revolved around projects linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), in preparation for Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's upcoming visit to China.
In their hour-long meeting, they delved into the various CPEC projects that would be on the agenda during Premier Shahbaz Sharif's imminent trip to China. The Minister underscored the vital importance of numerous CPEC initiatives, particularly emphasizing the significance of the ML-1 and Karachi Circular Railways (KCR) projects.
During their discussions, the Minister stressed the strategic nature of the ML-1 and Karachi Circular Railways (KCR) projects, highlighting that all necessary procedures, including approval by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP), have been completed. He pointed out that the ML-1 project would have a profound economic impact on both Pakistan and China. Moreover, he expressed concern about the potential consequences of delays in the ML-1 project, especially given the already deteriorating condition of the railway tracks due to recent floods.
The Minister also emphasized the significance of several other projects across various sectors, such as Energy, Information Technology, Agriculture, and Culture. These projects, he asserted, would be discussed during the Premier's visit to China, scheduled for November 1. He highlighted their substantial economic impact, noting that they come at zero cost to Pakistan.
Additionally, Pakistan proposed the establishment of a state-of-the-art National Forensic Lab, which would aid in investigations. The Chinese Ambassador commended the government's efforts, particularly those of the Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, and assured complete cooperation..
