The CPEC Chili Project earned a prestigious reward at the ongoing 2nd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE), as reported by China Economic Net (CEN). During the Trade Promotion Think Tank Exchange event, the awards ceremony for the Global Supply Chain Promotion Research Competition recognized the report titled “Enhancing the Quality of Green Agricultural Supply Chains under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor: A Case Study of the Pakistan-China Chili Project.”
Co-authored by Professor Song Zhihui of Sichuan University’s Pakistan Study Center and Dr. Liu Yajing of China Agricultural University, the report won third prize in the Business Advocacy Award category. Professor Song emphasized the research’s strategic value, highlighting the significance of green agriculture in enhancing product quality and addressing environmental challenges.
Dr. Liu noted that the recognition by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) underscores the transformative potential of agricultural cooperation under CPEC. The chili project serves as a model for leveraging Pakistan’s agricultural assets and China’s supply chain expertise to promote sustainable development and address economic challenges.
The research identifies logistical inefficiencies, differences in product standards, and limited information-sharing systems as key challenges to bilateral supply chains. Proposed solutions include infrastructure improvements, specialized training programs, investment in digital platforms, and stronger policy coordination between the two governments. These measures aim to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and build resilient supply chains amidst global economic uncertainties.
As one of the inaugural agricultural initiatives under CPEC, the Sichuan Puji Holdings Co., Ltd. chili project exemplifies the integration of resources and expertise, offering a pathway for sustainable growth and deeper bilateral collaboration.
