The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) stands as an inclusive and open platform, warmly inviting nations and international entities to partake in the construction of this flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative, as stated by Zhao Lijian, the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson.
During a routine briefing, Zhao Lijian emphasized the all-encompassing nature of CPEC, highlighting China and Pakistan's enthusiasm for any endeavors that align with the Belt and Road Initiative and the development of CPEC. This sentiment was expressed in response to a query from the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
Recently, during a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended an invitation to Turkey to participate in the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project. He expressed his willingness to engage in discussions with Chinese leadership if Turkey decides to collaborate on this flagship initiative.
Zhao Lijian reiterated that CPEC, a cornerstone of the Belt and Road Initiative, remains an open and inclusive venture, welcoming countries and international organizations eager to join. He emphasized the importance of fostering mutually beneficial cooperation and achieving shared development goals.
Zhao Lijian encouraged interested nations and organizations to explore appropriate avenues for their involvement in CPEC, ensuring they can partake in the dividends of Belt and Road collaboration.
Notably, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, launched in 2013 as a pilot project of the Belt and Road Initiative, focuses on collaboration in Gwadar Port, energy, infrastructure, and various industries. Recent developments have seen an expansion of cooperation between the two nations, encompassing areas such as science and technology, agriculture, people's well-being, and information technology industries.
