CPEC Energy Projects: APCEA Hosts Information Session

The All-Pakistan Chinese Enterprises’ Association (APCEA) orchestrated an informative session on Wednesday, aiming to enlighten media outlets and think tanks about the potential and significance of energy projects within the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Named "CPEC Energy Projects Unveiled: Infodor Salon," this gathering united media, think tanks, and representatives from seven vital CPEC energy enterprises.

The consortium comprised Power China Pakistan, China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Ltd, China Energy International Group Company Limited Pakistan Branch, China Power Hub Generation Company (PVT.) Ltd, China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Company, China Machinery Engineering Corporation, and Huaneng Shandong Ruyi (Pakistan) Energy (Pvt) Ltd.

During the briefing, the Power China Pakistan representative emphasized their role as a pivotal force in CPEC's development since their Pakistan debut in 1987. Their investments in regional infrastructure, particularly in power plants, have transformed Pakistan's energy sector.

Presently, there are 41 ongoing CPEC projects valued at over 6 billion US dollars. These projects employ approximately 1,500 skilled Chinese personnel working alongside more than 11,000 local Pakistani professionals.

As the leading APCEA enterprise, the representative noted their involvement in notable projects such as the Dawood Wind Power Project, the Port Qasim Coal-fired Power Plant (the largest super-critical coal-fired power plant), and the Tarbela Hydropower Project (Pakistan's largest hydroelectric power station).

Regarding ongoing projects, they highlighted their work on the world's tallest roller-compacted concrete dam, the Basha Dam, and the 765KV Dasu Transmission Line Project, representing the highest voltage level in Pakistan's power infrastructure.

Their contributions to economic development, local employment, and social responsibilities have garnered praise from official media and various social platforms within the CPEC framework.

China Power Hub Power Generation Representative Li Hualin disclosed an investment of over US$ 1.9 billion in the Balochistan energy project, which has generated more than 23 billion kWhs of clean electricity for Pakistan's national grid, contributing to economic development and tax revenue.

CPHGC has adhered to strict environmental standards, winning 74 national and provincial awards, including the National Quality Engineering Gold Award and Lu-ban Award.

Currently, 868 Pakistani employees work at CPHGC, with Balochistan employees comprising 31 percent of the workforce.

APCEA's News and Media Director described the association as an influential, disciplined organization with over 200 Chinese member enterprises and organizations in Pakistan. APCEA aims to enhance economic and social cooperation, fostering stronger China-Pakistan diplomatic ties.

The association operates three branches in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, in compliance with Pakistani laws. Its member enterprises are engaged in diverse sectors across Pakistan, including Energy, Aviation, Infrastructure, Textile, Telecommunication, Industrial Manufacturing, and Mining, creating a bridge for mutual business ventures and economic connectivity.
