CPEC Milestone: 43 Projects Worth $24.7bn Completed

The government of Pakistan recently presented the details of the financial contributions received through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in the National Assembly. According to the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, a total of 43 projects, valued at approximately $24.7 billion, have been completed with China's cooperation. These projects span across various sectors, highlighting the immense contribution of CPEC to Pakistan’s infrastructure and economic growth.

In addition to the completed projects, eight new initiatives worth $759.56 million are currently under implementation, across various regions of Pakistan, including Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab, and Islamabad. Notably, significant projects in Balochistan include the Gwadar Free Zone Phase-II and the Bostan Special Economic Zone, which are instrumental in driving economic activity in the region.

Furthermore, the operational success of the Gwadar Port, which can handle vessels of up to 50,000 DWT and accommodate bulk cargo and container handling, has been highlighted as a key milestone in the ongoing development. Multiple shipments under the Afghanistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement have been processed through the port, underscoring its growing role in regional trade.

This strategic collaboration between China and Pakistan continues to shape the future of the country’s infrastructure, economy, and international trade relations.
