CPEC’s Second Phase to Reshape Pakistan's Economic Future


At the National Day Reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy, marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering ties with China for mutual economic growth and regional stability. Attended by key figures such as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari, the event showcased the enduring partnership between the two nations.

In his speech, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the significance of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a transformative force for Pakistan’s economy. He highlighted the vast potential for collaboration in key sectors, including agriculture, IT, and natural resources, which he believes will drive mutual growth.

PM Shehbaz praised China’s support in Pakistan's IMF negotiations and acknowledged the importance of continuing cooperation for regional peace and development. He also reiterated Pakistan's strong support for China's international stance, including issues concerning Hong Kong and Taiwan. Additionally, he expressed anticipation for the Chinese Prime Minister’s visit to Islamabad, where he will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Council of Heads of Government (SCO CHG) meeting.

President Asif Ali Zardari also spoke at the event, stressing the importance of CPEC’s high-quality development, which he believes will unlock further economic benefits for Pakistan and enhance regional connectivity. He acknowledged the historical significance of October 1, commemorating the resurgence of a strong, united China under the Communist Party’s leadership.
