Dar Meets Chinese Envoy, Reaffirms Pakistan’s Commitment to One-China Policy

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday held a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, to discuss matters of mutual interest and review the overall state of bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, Ambassador Jiang conveyed seasonal greetings and best wishes for the New Year to the Deputy Prime Minister on behalf of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. In response, Senator Dar reciprocated the New Year’s greetings and expressed appreciation for China’s consistent and strong support for Pakistan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national development.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s principled position, the Deputy Prime Minister reiterated Islamabad’s firm support for China on all core issues, including adherence to the One-China Principle. He underscored that Pakistan recognises the People’s Republic of China as the sole legitimate government representing all of China and considers Taiwan an inalienable part of Chinese territory.

Both sides reviewed the broader landscape of Pakistan-China relations and agreed that the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership remains a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy. They also reaffirmed that the enduring partnership between Islamabad and Beijing continues to serve as an anchor for regional peace, stability, and security.
