Global Voices Unite at CPEC Phase-II Conference in Peshawar

A landmark international seminar marking the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is scheduled to take place in Peshawar this Monday. Jointly organised by China Window, the Institute of Management Sciences (IMSciences), and the Higher Education Commission, the event aims to bolster peace, foster regional collaboration, and enhance public understanding of CPEC’s strategic value.

According to a press release issued on Sunday, CPEC Phase-II is regarded as a transformative step for Pakistan’s economic rejuvenation, industrial advancement, and enhanced regional connectivity. The seminar seeks to facilitate dialogue and intellectual exchange among prominent national and international stakeholders, spotlighting the initiative’s long-term potential to reshape the regional economic fabric and elevate global perceptions of Pakistan.

Spanning three days, the seminar will commence with keynote speeches from distinguished dignitaries including former Foreign Secretary Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, former Ambassador to China Naghmana Hashmi, Chairman Tehreek Jawanan Pakistan Abdullah Hameed Gul, and former KP Inspector General of Police Syed Akhtar Ali Shah.

Veteran journalists Syed Zamir Asadi and Tahir Farooq—well-versed in Pak-China relations—will share their insights alongside key figures such as Dr. Talat Shabbir, Javid Iqbal Khattak (former CEO of KP Economic Zones Management Company), Prof. Dr. Usman Ghani (Director, IMSciences), and Prof. Dr. Gulzar Jalal (Director, Pakistan Academy of Letters).

Among the high-profile attendees are Ali Banfshehkhwa, Consul General of Iran in Peshawar, Zahid Latif Khan, Chairman of ZLK Islamic Financial Services, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, all of whom will deliver addresses during the event.

International participation will include virtual messages from Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong. Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed and Professor Li Xiguang of Tsinghua University—also a member of the Public Diplomacy Consultative Committee of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs—will lend academic depth to the discussions.

The second day of the seminar will welcome provincial ministers, policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders to reflect on a decade of CPEC progress and suggest forward-looking strategies to accelerate its future impact.
