ICCI and CPBF to Boost Bilateral Trade Between Pakistan and China

Lt General (r) Abdul Qayyum, Chief Patron of the China Pakistan Business Forum (CPBF), has called for strengthening business-to-business (B2B) connections between Pakistani and Chinese entrepreneurs to deepen trade and investment ties for mutual benefit.

During his visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Abdul Qayyum led a large delegation of Chinese investors alongside Sheikh Ejaz Asghar, Co-Chairman CPBF. The visiting delegation included Guan Yinkui, President CPBF Yuncheng City China; Guo Peng, Chairman China Medical Industry; Mr Zhang from the Medical Industry; Mr Wan from Cash & Carry and Departmental Store; Ms He, Secretary General CPBF, Shijiazhuang Office China; and representatives from Hebei Bashi Supply Chain Company.

Abdul Qayyum noted that this visit follows the B2B meetings held by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his recent trip to China, focusing on turning those discussions into tangible outcomes. He proposed forming a permanent joint committee comprising leading business figures from both nations, to be chaired by ICCI, for sustained dialogue on trade and investment matters.

In his remarks, Sardar Tahir Mehmood, President ICCI, said the Chamber is dedicated to broadening Pakistan-China economic cooperation through regular B2B engagements. Highlighting the significance of CPEC Phase-II, he shared that it emphasizes exports, digital economy, renewable energy, connectivity, and mineral resources while empowering Pakistani youth through scholarships and technical training in China. Over 10,000 Pakistani students are expected to gain advanced skills through these initiatives.

He further announced that ICCI plans to organize an international investment conference to promote Pakistan’s export and tourism potential. Sheikh Ejaz Asghar appreciated ICCI’s initiatives and suggested holding the conference in partnership with CPBF, assuring participation from more than 100 Chinese companies. He also recommended establishing a state-of-the-art Expo Center in Islamabad to host trade fairs and exhibitions.

Chinese investors reaffirmed their commitment to Pakistan’s industrial and economic growth by investing in modernization, production, and job creation. The meeting concluded with optimism for deeper economic collaboration between the two nations.
