Ishaq Dar Begins Key Diplomatic Visit to China
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has arrived in Beijing for a crucial three-day official visit at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi. The trip marks an important diplomatic engagement during a time of heightened regional tension, following a recently brokered ceasefire between Pakistan and India.
This visit comes in the wake of a military standoff triggered by the Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which India blamed on Pakistan without presenting substantive evidence. In response to India's missile strikes—allegedly targeting terror camps but resulting in civilian casualties—China provided unwavering military and diplomatic support to Pakistan, playing a vital role in averting further escalation. Notably, the deployment of China’s advanced J-10C fighter jets and PL-15 missiles enabled Pakistan to down six Indian aircraft, including state-of-the-art Rafale jets.

Ahead of his departure, DPM Dar emphasised the robust and enduring partnership between Islamabad and Beijing, noting two recent calls with Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who extended the official invitation. During the visit, Dar is expected to engage in comprehensive discussions with the Chinese leadership, focusing on political, regional, and global issues—especially the latest Pakistan-India friction.
Dar also pointed out in his recent international interactions that India is actively attempting to shift blame onto Pakistan, even going as far as to allege attacks on nuclear facilities—claims strongly denied by Islamabad.
According to the Foreign Office, the visit includes in-depth talks between Dar and Wang Yi on the evolving geopolitical situation in South Asia, with an emphasis on promoting peace and stability. The leaders will also assess the full scope of Pakistan-China relations and align on shared strategic interests.
This visit is part of a series of ongoing high-level exchanges, reaffirming the two countries’ dedication to bolstering their All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership—a cornerstone of regional cooperation and mutual trust.
