In a significant step toward strengthening Pakistan-China industrial cooperation, the Government of Sindh has announced the establishment of a Super Mini Truck assembly plant in Karachi, in partnership with Chinese investors. This major initiative, revealed by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on May 18 during the unveiling ceremony in Bozhou, China, signals a bold move toward automotive innovation, job creation, and technological advancement in Pakistan.
The plant will manufacture the Super Mini Truck, a revolutionary vehicle developed jointly by China’s Chery Holding and Peddy Technology Company Limited. Notably adaptable, the Super Mini Truck can be transformed into a compact passenger vehicle, making it an efficient and sustainable solution for both urban and rural logistics needs.
Minister Memon highlighted the broader scope of the partnership, announcing future plans to establish electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Sindh, thus contributing to greener transport infrastructure. He lauded the Super Mini Truck as a smart fusion of intelligent design, environmental sustainability, and practical engineering, tailored for Pakistan’s evolving transport landscape.
The upcoming assembly plant is expected to stimulate industrial growth, create employment opportunities, promote local manufacturing of automotive parts, and facilitate knowledge transfer between Pakistan and China. This project could position Karachi as a rising regional hub for automotive production.
The Government of Sindh has pledged comprehensive support including infrastructure development, regulatory facilitation, and workforce training to ensure the project's successful rollout and long-term viability.
