Key Outcomes from the Recent SCO-CHG Meeting

The recent meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of Government marked a significant step in enhancing economic and trade cooperation among member states. Key documents, including the Joint Communique, were signed to reinforce the efficient functioning of permanent bodies within the SCO.

During the closing remarks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the transfer of the Council of Heads of Government chairmanship to the Russian Federation, with the next meeting scheduled to be held in Russia next year. He extended congratulations to Russia and assured full support from Pakistan during their chairmanship.

Prime Minister Sharif described the meeting as a success, emphasizing a collective commitment to creating a sustainable future for coming generations. He highlighted the importance of prioritizing collaboration over political differences, urging member states to address shared challenges while ensuring that the SCO serves as a platform for stability and mutual benefit.

The Prime Minister also voiced deep concerns regarding the ongoing genocide in Gaza, calling for immediate international action to establish a ceasefire and support the establishment of a Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds as its capital.

A reception was held in honor of the SCO leaders and their delegates, further emphasizing the commitment to collaborative efforts for peace and development.
