Minister Ahsan Iqbal Urges Swift Action on CPEC Projects

Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, has issued a directive to various ministries to expedite the proposals for upcoming discussions at the 12th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting.

During a meeting chaired by the Federal Minister, progress on projects within the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was assessed. Key figures in attendance included Chief Economist Dr. Nadeem Javed and Maritime Affairs Adviser Jawad Akhtar, alongside representatives from relevant ministries.

The gathering delved into the advancement of projects such as ML1 and KCR, as well as the enhancement of Yarik-Zhob, Mirpur-Muzaffarabad Mansehra, BabuSer Tunnel, DI Khan, and the Alternative Alignment Motorway linking Karachi to Hyderabad. Minister Iqbal directed ministries to compile a comprehensive report on projects set to yield economic and social benefits to Pakistan within a decade of CPEC's inception, emphasizing the need to facilitate investors operating under CPEC.

In 2023, as CPEC marks a decade of progress, nationwide celebrations are slated to commemorate this milestone. The government remains dedicated to safeguarding investments, with the Planning Ministry diligently ensuring the provision of investor-friendly facilities within the CPEC framework.
