The NA Secretariat has vehemently denied recent news reports. In an official statement, the Secretary for the Committee on CPEC and DG clarified that the meeting was conducted in-camera. Emphasizing the vital role of CPEC in the nation's economic future, he stressed the need for an enhanced administrative framework as the project expands.
The statement also underscored the committee chairperson's support for establishing an authority to manage administrative and legal matters. It raised suspicions about the timing of baseless propaganda, coinciding with the visit of the Chinese foreign minister to Pakistan. During the confidential session, relevant authorities briefed the Parliamentary Committee on CPEC about various projects under the CPEC umbrella, feasibility reports for special economic zones, and ongoing development initiatives. The statement noted that committee members had their queries addressed.
The committee emphasized the importance of meticulous planning before initiating any CPEC sub-projects to maximize their benefits. Chairman Sher Ali Arbab announced that the next committee meeting would take place in Gwadar, where they would engage with local residents and inspect development sites to assess the progress of ongoing projects.
