Pakistan and China to Enhance Collaboration, Focus on CPEC Monetisation

Strengthening Economic Ties and Advancing Strategic Partnership


ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Pakistan and China agreed to enhance their cooperation across multiple sectors, including industrial zones, agriculture, minerals and mining, and renewable energy.

In a press release from the finance ministry, it was revealed that Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong met with Minister for Finance & Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb to discuss pivotal issues related to economic cooperation and bilateral relations between the two nations.

The discussions highlighted that the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would prioritize monetizing the achievements of its first phase.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening economic ties, reflecting the robust friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and China.

During the meeting, the ambassador congratulated Muhammad Aurangzeb on his appointment as Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, expressing optimism about further strengthening economic relations.

Minister Aurangzeb expressed gratitude to the Chinese leadership for their vital support across various sectors. He particularly noted the significance of the roll-over of SAFE deposits and the refinancing of commercial loans, which have played a crucial role in stabilizing Pakistan's economy.

Aurangzeb underscored the critical importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Pakistan's growth strategy and its overall economic recovery plan.
