The Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF-V20) and Pakistan-China Institute (PCI) have formalized a transformative partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on bolstering climate resilience, sustainable development, and environmental governance across Pakistan and the surrounding region.
This strategic MoU reflects a deep commitment to joint efforts that harness the collective strengths of both organizations in tackling climate change. The collaboration will focus on advancing Pakistan's Climate Prosperity Plan, once finalized, and ensuring the country and its neighbors thrive in the face of rising climate risks. Key areas of cooperation include research, policy advocacy, international finance, innovation, and capacity-building, all essential for building regional climate resilience.
The signing ceremony, held at Marriott Hotel Islamabad, was attended by high-ranking officials including Hamza Haroon, Regional Director CVF-V20, and Mustafa Hyder Syed, Executive Director of PCI. The ceremony was also witnessed by Sara Jane Ahmed, Managing Director of CVF-V20, who is leading a two-week delegation to engage in extensive consultations within Pakistan.
In his remarks, Hamza Haroon emphasized the importance of unlocking climate finance and driving sustainable growth, highlighting the pivotal role this partnership plays in achieving impactful climate outcomes for vulnerable countries. Mustafa Hyder Syed echoed these sentiments, stressing that Pakistan’s path to resilience demands both immediate action and long-term policy reforms. This partnership is set to create tangible, sustainable solutions that protect at-risk communities while shaping a climate-resilient future.
