Gwadar Students Begin Advanced Technical Studies in China under CPEC

Under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a group of students from Gwadar has embarked on a transformative journey to China for advanced technical education. The first batch from the University of Gwadar’s Technical and Vocational Institute has arrived at the Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology (SICT), where they will complete the remaining one and a half years of their three-year diploma programme. This initiative aims to equip young learners with world-class skills and enhance their career prospects in the modern workforce.

The educational collaboration stems from a 2023 agreement among the University of Gwadar, Gwadar Port Authority, China Overseas Ports Holding Company Limited (COPHCL), and SICT. It focuses on strengthening technical education and human resource development within the CPEC framework, reinforcing both educational and economic ties between Pakistan and China.

A significant aspect of this programme is that all expenses — including tuition fees, accommodation, and travel — are fully sponsored by the University of Gwadar, Gwadar Port Authority, and COPHCL. This generous support highlights a joint commitment to uplifting the youth of Gwadar through quality education and practical skill enhancement.

This success owes much to the dedication of former Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Pasand Khan Baledi and University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Abdul Razaq Sabir. Their vision was carried forward by current Chairman Nor-ul-Haq Baloch and leaders from COPHCL and SICT, with Executive Director Professor Dr. Manzoor Ahmed providing key academic leadership.

Overall, this milestone represents a proud achievement for Gwadar, paving the way for young talent to gain international experience and technical expertise. It lays the groundwork for a skilled, self-reliant, and prosperous future for the region.
