The Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute (PCT&VI) at the University of Gwadar (UG) has signed a significant five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Wuhan Central Foreign Economic and Technical Cooperation Group Co., Ltd. (WCFETCG) of China. The collaboration seeks to advance vocational and technical education in Gwadar under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

The agreement was formally signed by Prof. Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, Executive Director of PCT&VI, and the Chairman of Wuhan Central Group. This strategic partnership aims to enhance skill development, foster global educational cooperation, and strengthen workforce capacity in the region.

“This MoU represents a turning point for the youth of Gwadar,” remarked Prof. Dr. Manzoor Ahmed. “Our partnership with a reputable Chinese institution will expand learning opportunities, promote modern technical education, and create pathways for international training and employment.”

Under the terms of the MoU, both institutions will develop joint educational programs, conduct technical workshops, and establish “Chinese + Vocational Skills” training bases, integrating Chinese language learning with technical instruction. The initiative also includes faculty training, curriculum development, student and teacher exchanges, and the organization of global seminars, conferences, and competitions.

Welcoming the collaboration, the Chairman of Wuhan Central Group stated, “We are honoured to work with PCT&VI in advancing vocational education in Gwadar, a region of immense strategic value. This partnership supports our mission to promote cross-border educational excellence under the Belt and Road Initiative and prepare a skilled workforce capable of meeting modern industrial demands.”

During his visit to China, Prof. Dr. Manzoor Ahmed also attended a seminar on the “Digitalization of Technical Institutes in Developing Countries,” hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, emphasizing the growing role of technology in education and skills development.
