The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) has officially inaugurated a specialised dermatology department at the Pak-China Friendship Hospital, a prominent healthcare project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The new department was unveiled during a formal ceremony led by GDA Director General Saif Ullah Khaitaran and attended by local officials and community members.
Equipped with expert skin specialists, the department will provide care in areas such as genetics, immunology, melanoma, oral disease, pathology, pediatrics, pharmacology, public health, and surgery. The facility is capable of performing advanced dermatologic procedures including Mohs micrographic surgery, cosmetic and laser surgery, and other surgical treatments.
Designed to serve patients across Gwadar and Balochistan, the department is well-prepared to treat complex skin conditions like blistering diseases, bullous pemphigoid, burning mouth syndrome, connective tissue disease, and contact dermatitis. Comprehensive diagnostic services such as skin biopsies and specimen testing for bacterial, fungal, and viral infections are also offered.
To reach patients in more remote areas, the department has launched telemedicine services, ensuring greater access to dermatologic expertise.
At the ceremony, DG Khaitaran also shared plans to introduce new departments—gastroenterology, cardiology, and neurology—along with infrastructure expansions like a medical college and allied health facilities. The recent upgrades follow other milestones at the hospital, such as the launch of an Endourology unit in February and the implementation of modern laser techniques for bladder stone removal.
Managed by the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN), the Pak-China Friendship Hospital continues to advance local healthcare standards by delivering state-of-the-art medical care and offering modern facilities to its staff and patients alike.
