China-aided Gwadar Pak-China Friendship Hospital has made history by performing the first-ever laser-assisted bladder stone surgery in Gwadar. This pioneering medical procedure, known as “cystolitholapaxy,” uses a cystoscope to locate and treat bladder stones. Through laser technology, the stones are broken down into smaller pieces for removal, offering a less invasive treatment option for patients.
This advanced procedure marks a significant milestone in the hospital’s commitment to improving healthcare services in Gwadar and the broader Balochistan region. Furthermore, all medical procedures and services, including this state-of-the-art surgery, are provided free of charge to the underserved communities of Gwadar.
Pak-China Friendship Hospital, which is managed by the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) and regulated by the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), has already achieved several health milestones. Earlier this year, it introduced Endourology in its Urology department, further enhancing its medical capabilities. The hospital is equipped with modern facilities, including an ICU, emergency care, a variety of specialized departments, and a 24/7 operation.
The hospital has served over 60,000 patients in family medicine and general outpatient care and treated over 30,000 pediatric patients. With a daily influx of around 1,200 patients, it is making remarkable progress in reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates while increasing the region's immunization coverage. The introduction of its transfusion department in January has further bolstered its medical services, ensuring better care for all.
