Over the past six months, the Pak-China Friendship Hospital—operated by the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) in partnership with the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN)—has treated more than 150,000 patients. This state-of-the-art CPEC project provides comprehensive care to Gwadar and its neighboring regions, offering not only advanced medical services but also free medicines and meals to admitted patients.
A detailed breakdown reveals that the emergency department handled 18,190 cases, while the family medicine and general outpatient department (OPD) saw 60,465 visits. The pediatric OPD recorded 32,875 visits, and the internal medicine OPD managed 6,014 consultations.
Specialised departments have also made a significant impact. The general surgery unit served 5,527 patients with 304 surgeries, and the orthopedic surgery OPD attended to 5,229 patients, performing 230 surgical procedures. Additionally, the dental OPD treated 4,636 patients, and the urology and nephrology OPD managed 2,822 cases, with 23 surgeries conducted.
The maternity and child health department remains one of the busiest sections, with 15,437 visits and 1,260 babies delivered. The hospital also performed 176 CT scans during this period. In a further bid to expand services, the hospital recently launched Blood Bank Services equipped with a state-of-the-art Cryofuge machine to provide specialized blood components for patients facing trauma, childbirth complications, liver conditions, and blood disorders.
